Moon no. 1

Moon no. 1

22"x 28" cold pressed paper. This is mixed media painting (mostly watercolor)  of the moon. It is tinged with pink, as though entering a lunar eclipse.  I think the moon is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen-- I could paint it over and over again. See more images here.

Tree of Life

Tree of Life

Oil on Canvas, 3' x 4'.  This is a piece that I made for my mom a few Christmases ago. We both love trees, and to me, she kind of has been a tree-- through all seasons and times.  Read more here

"Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life."  -Hermann Hesse

Wade in the Water

Wade in the Water

Charcoal. A figure dancing to Alvin Ailey's beautiful dance "Wade in the Water."  I have been carrying around a clipping from a magazine for years, and decided that I finally wanted to see what it would look like in charcoal.

Open Flower / Joie de Vivre

Open Flower / Joie de Vivre

I created this flower by hammering the leaves down between brown paper and then taking a picture of it. I'm no photographer, but this picture always makes me happy.
