If there's one thing I know about myself, it's that I love trees. One of the reasons I love trees so much is because of my mom. She loves trees and things that grow. And my mom has always sort of reminded me of a tree-- she's sturdy, steady, giving, and radiates life to everyone who comes around her. She's not technically the "tree" in this painting, but she's my giving tree, and I love her. some fun facts about the painting:
1. The tree is trying to be a Bradford Pear, which is one of the neatest trees because it blossoms beautifully in the spring, is lush through the summer, and then changes to brilliant hues of red, orange, and yellow in the fall. 2. None of the figures are technically people that I know or members of our family-- except the dog, who is 100% Eddie. (But I really do identify with the girl on the swing) 3. The trees don't look quite as tilted on the canvas as they do in this photo. :) 4. I painted a reference to one of my songs, Hide and Seek, in the picture. See if you can spot it. :) 5. I hardly slept the 2 days before Christmas Eve because I was busting out the final touches in mad rush to finish. But she cried when I gave it to her, and that was worth it.
